...Forward, men, forward! Let it never be said that Texans lag in a fight!

COMPANY A, 7th TEXAS INFANTRY REGIMENT
"Waco Guards"

MUSTER ROLL

This list contains the service record of all 97 men who served in Company A, 7th Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment from October 1861 to April 1865. The information is mainly obtained from the "Compiled Service Records", National Archives of the United States, Washington, D.C.

The records are relatively scant, however. This is primarily due to the fact that a significant portion was lost during the war. With a few exceptions, prison and hospital journals constitute about the only surviving source of information for the period after May 1864.

The company was first organized in July 1861 in Waco, Texas, under the name "Waco Guards". They were mustered into Confederate service on 2 October 1861 in Marshall, Texas, and assigned as Company A of the 7th Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment on 10 November 1861 at Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The company ceased to exist on April 9, 1865, when the 12 remaining men were merged into Company C, 1st Texas Consolidated Infantry Regiment (formed by consolidating 8 regiments).

· After the Battle of Raymond 12 May 1863, Company F was disbanded and 15 men transferred to Company A.
